Congratulations on this environmental initiative, which contributes to the region’s development and growth.
With this contribution by Collahuasi Fundation, the Municipality of Iquique has taken a new step in caring for its coastline with the acquisition of a BeachTech 2000 S beach cleaner—equipment distributed by Telemet. The machine’s inaugural cleaning run on Iquique’s beach marks the beginning of a new phase that combines urban management, environmental stewardship, and an enhanced experience for residents, tourists, and athletes alike. Photos and videos from this first day of operation demonstrate something very tangible: technology applied to public spaces, yielding visible results from the very first pass.
This strategic decision is particularly fitting for a city where the beach is an integral part of daily life and local identity. Maintaining the sand in pristine condition not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the coastline but also helps provide safer, more orderly, and more enjoyable spaces for community use. In Iquique, mechanized cleaning has long been a key component of sustained efforts to protect the urban shoreline and reinforce its environmental and recreational value.
The BeachTech 2000 S stands out for its compact and highly maneuverable design, specifically engineered for medium-sized beach areas and locations with restricted access. According to technical specifications published by Telemet and BeachTech, the model employs a sifting mechanism capable of collecting even the smallest debris; it features a working width of approximately 1.85 meters and a 1.5 m³ hopper, allowing collected material to be unloaded directly into a truck or waste container. This combination of precision, capacity, and agility makes it an exceptionally valuable asset for municipalities seeking operational efficiency without compromising cleaning quality.
For Telemet, this delivery also serves to reaffirm its established track record of collaborating with Chilean municipalities to provide beach cleaning solutions. Through its own publications, the company has previously highlighted both recent deliveries to local governments and past instances of BeachTech equipment successfully operating throughout Chile—including in Iquique.
