Airport Sprayer
The RSP sprayer was developed for de-icing airport runways, taxiways and aprons. It applies de-icing liquids with extreme accuracy via special spraying discs.
Construction and Technology
Its modular design makes a wide variety of assembly options possible. This ensures that it can be easily customised to meet the individual needs of the various airports. Depending on the customer’s requirement, the RSP sprayer can be fitted with one, two, three or four special spraying discs.
The RSP 1S and RSP 2S are comprised of two components: the modular polyethylene fluid tanks and drive unit, as well as, one or two rear-mounted spraying discs.
The RSP 3S and RSP 4S are comprised of three components: the modular polyethylene fluid tanks and drive unit, two side-mounted spraying arms, each with a spraying disc on the outer end, as well as, one or two rear-mounted spraying discs. The special spraying discs are very stable and easy to maintain and there are very few wearing elements. The spraying arms are suspended and can be hydraulically and completely folded back. The entire machine is coated with a specially developed corrosion protection. All cavities are air closed. The sprayer is specially designed for mounting on large carrier vehicles and is powered either by the vehicles’ hydraulics or a separate diesel engine.
In Operation
The RSP tackles icy surfaces using anti-icing and de-icing methods with a road speed related control of up to 40 km/h. Depending on the design, the maximum spraying width is 8, 15, 24 or 32 m. The RSP 3S’s and RSP 4S’s spraying arms remain in the same position even if an emergency stop at a speed of 40 km/h is made. Up to 50 g/m² of the de-icing liquid can be sprayed with high accuracy and good coverage efficiency. The special spraying discs form large drops and are positioned just 500 mm above the surface of the ground. This reduces the swirling caused by turbulence to a minimum. The de-icing fluids are pumped, road speed related, by pumps from the tanks to the special spraying discs. The spraying discs are fitted with a special injection system. A consistent and accurate spraying pattern is guaranteed by the closed circuit powered pumps and spraying discs. Spraying is controlled by the CL control panel which is very easy to operate and located in the operator’s cabin. This means that both the spraying width and dosage can be regulated quickly and efficiently.
